Myofascial Release Massage Therapy (with Victor)

Myofascial Release Massage Therapy (MFR) is a targeted treatment that focuses on the fascia (connective tissue) to release pressure and tension, reduce inflammation, and restore mobility. Throughout the body, the fascia surrounds and protects all structures within the musculoskeletal system – interconnecting bones, muscles, tendons, nerves, internal organs, and blood vessels. Injury in one area of the fascia can cause pain in another region. Disease, injury, trauma, and inactivity can restrict the fascia, leading to pressure, pain, postural misalignment, reduced blood flow, and limited range of motion

Victor D. Cabral of Nk Body Philosophy is a licensed massage therapist (LMT) who is trained in myofascial release massage therapy. He employs various MFR techniques such as applying constant and direct pressure to the fascia until a release occurs. Additionally, using his palms, knuckles, elbows, or other tools, he gradually stretches and elongates the restricted fascia. Sessions may also incorporate other therapies to achieve the most effective results, advancing the recovery process and helping clients to function at their best.

MFR Additional Treatments
Additional treatments that may be included during a Myofascial Release session with Victor:

TMJ refers to the temporomandibular joints on each side of the face that connect the jaw to the side of the skull. To allow for the forward, backward, and side-to-side movements of the lower jaw, and the opening and closing of the mouth, these joints work in conjunction with facial bones and five pairs of muscles. TMJ dysfunction occurs when these joints and muscles stop working together harmoniously and cause muscle spasms, resulting in pain, muscle tenderness, tissue damage, and stiffness in the jaw, face, and neck. Victor’s approach to TMJ myofascial massage therapy includes tissue release in the surrounding areas, gentle massage on the joint (external or intra-oral), and self-care tools to practice at home.

What To Expect During MFR Sessions

All sessions occur at Upsoul Wellness Center. Victor will start with an initial consultation and assessment before beginning treatment on the massage table. He will gather pertinent information about clients’ medical history, concerns, injuries, and symptoms, as well as assess their movement, mobility, and posture, to customize an action plan. Additional treatments – such as TMJ myofascial massage therapy, trigger point therapy, or manual stretching – may be incorporated into a session to achieve the most effective treatment.
