Osteopathic-Based Treatments
Osteopathic-based treatments are therapies developed from osteopathy, which emphasize the treatment and prevention of health conditions related to the musculoskeletal system through hands-on techniques, physical manipulation, and massage. The musculoskeletal system contains interconnected muscles, bones, ligaments, joints, and connective tissue (or fascia) that enable movement and stability, provide structure and support to the body, and protect vital organs. Practitioners utilize a comprehensive approach to patient care and advocate for preventative care, treating the whole person instead of simply attending to symptoms

At Nk Body Philosophy, Candice White-Parker provides osteopathic-based treatments. Candice’s holistic approach, stemming from her training in osteopathy and physical therapy, considers the root causes of symptoms, examines internal and external factors, and focuses on both treatment and prevention. She applies various hands-on techniques to the musculoskeletal system, improving structural and mobility imbalances, relieving pain and stress, and treating chronic illnesses and injuries.

Osteopathic-Based Treatments Specific Therapies
Considering a client’s unique needs, an osteopathic-based treatments session may include a combination of the following therapies or focus on one specific therapy.
Craniosacral therapy (CST) or cranial osteopathy is a non-invasive, hands-on method that incorporates applying light touch and gentle pressure along the head, neck, shoulders, back, spine, and the sacrum (the lower end of the spine). CST enhances the functioning of the craniosacral system, which consists of membranes, tissues, bones, and cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord. Any imbalance within this critical system can cause sensory, motor, and neurological dysfunction.
What to Expect During Osteopathic-Based Treatments Sessions
Please wear relaxed and comfortable clothing such as a t-shirt, shorts, or leggings. All osteopathic-based sessions are clothed, similar to a physical therapist or chiropractor appointment. All sessions occur at Upsoul Wellness Center. Candice will start with an initial consultation before beginning treatment on the massage table. She gathers pertinent information about medical history, health concerns, injuries, chronic illnesses, and symptoms experienced. This information in conjunction with how the body reacts to the treatments determine how Candice customizes a client’s action plan.
